Description
The largest energy reserve that can be added to the RIVER 3 Plus and RIVER 3 Plus Wireless comes from the RIVER 3 Plus Smart Extra Battery EB600. It holds 572 Wh, that is twice as much as the station itself, and together they reach the maximum for this line, 858 Wh. For those planning to buy an EcoFlow EB600, it is useful to know: this very pair is sold as a ready-made set called the EcoFlow RIVER 3 Max Plus.
During power outages the difference is noticeable: a router, laptop and lamp are powered from the station not for one evening but for a day or longer. The battery does not fit the regular RIVER 3 and RIVER 2 stations, because they lack the necessary connector.

Why a RIVER 3 Plus needs a 572 Wh battery
Three times the energy
With the EB600 the station has 858 Wh instead of its own 286 Wh. By EcoFlow’s official calculations, a 10 W Wi-Fi router runs from such a pair for about 61 hours, that is over two and a half days.
The capacity ceiling for the RIVER 3 Plus
The station accepts only one extra battery, so 858 Wh is the maximum, and it can be obtained only with the EB600. With the smaller EB300 the system stops at 572 Wh.
No wires and no screws
The units connect through pogo pin contacts located on the top panel of the battery. The station is lowered onto the guide protrusion, the latches fix it, and an icon of the extra unit appears on the RIVER 3 Plus display.
Its own 140 W USB-C
The two-way USB-C port on the front panel of the EB600 delivers and accepts up to 140 W. With 572 Wh the battery can charge a laptop several times without a station nearby.
LFP cell lifespan
The same chemistry as in the RIVER 3 Plus: LiFePO4 rated for 3000 cycles to 80% capacity. EcoFlow estimates the service life at about 10 years.

EB600 compatibility
According to the user manual, the RIVER 3 Plus supports the connection of one RIVER 3 Plus Smart Extra Battery. The EB600 is compatible with both versions of the station:
| Station | Own capacity | With the EB600 |
|---|---|---|
| RIVER 3 Plus | 286 Wh | 858 Wh |
| RIVER 3 Plus Wireless | 286 Wh | 858 Wh |
Separately about the RIVER 3 Max set: it already has a 286 Wh EB300 installed. An EB600 cannot be put under it as well, but one battery can be replaced with the other. The system then grows from 572 to 858 Wh, and the EB300 remains as a separate power bank with USB-C.
EcoFlow does not provide the EB600 for the basic RIVER 3 and its UPS version, for the entire RIVER 2 series (including Max and Pro) and for DELTA stations.
The contents stated in the manual are minimal: the battery plus printed materials, because no wires are used to connect to the station.

How many hours the EB600 will add
Through the inverter about 485 Wh of the battery’s 572 Wh reaches the outlets, roughly 85%. Here are EcoFlow’s official estimates for the station without a battery and paired with the EB600:
| Device | RIVER 3 Plus | + EB600 |
|---|---|---|
| Travel router, 10 W | 20.4 h | 61.1 h |
| Drone charging, 40 W | 5.8 h | 17.4 h |
| Car fridge, 60 W | 3.9 h | 11.7 h |
| Game console, 100 W | 2.2 h | 6.7 h |
| Fridge, 120 W | 1.9 h | 5.6 h |
| Computer, 600 W | 20 min | 1 h |
A typical set for an outage is a router with an optical terminal, a laptop and an LED lamp, about 80 W together. By our estimate, the system’s 858 Wh (about 730 Wh usable) lasts such a load for 9 hours, whereas the station alone would last about three. The real result depends on the equipment and the temperature.

Connection and everyday use
The manual requires switching off the station and battery before connecting or disconnecting them. After removing the cover from the connector, align the groove on the bottom of the RIVER 3 Plus with the protrusion on the EB600 and place the station on top. To remove, press the release button on the battery, lift the station and put the cover back.
Assembled, both units switch on with one short press of the power button on either one and switch off by holding for 3 seconds. Devices can be connected to the ports of both the station and the battery. The system can be charged through the input of either unit, with energy going first to the one with less charge.

Without the station the EB600 works as a power bank: a device is connected to its USB-C, and the battery itself is charged through the same port. The light strip on the front panel shows the charge level; partial flashing means charging, full flashing an error.
For a long idle period EcoFlow advises bringing the charge to 0% every 3 months and then topping up to 60%. The permissible storage range is from -10 to 45 °C and charging from 0 to 45 °C. The EB600 must not be transported by air.
A battery or a more powerful station
The EB600 increases only the energy reserve. The rated power remains 600 W, and X-Boost up to 1200 W suits heating appliances, so this system will not run a boiler, a 2 kW kettle or an induction hob.
If you do not have a station yet, it is more logical to look at the ready-made EcoFlow RIVER 3 Max Plus set or the wireless-charging RIVER 3 Max Plus Wireless. And if weight is the main thing and doubling is enough, look at the EB300: it is 2.3 kg lighter and 48 mm lower.
Who it suits and who it does not
It suits:
- owners of a RIVER 3 Plus and RIVER 3 Plus Wireless who keep the station as a reserve for a router and laptop;
- owners of a RIVER 3 Max who want to replace the EB300 and reach 858 Wh;
- those who need a high-capacity standalone 140 W USB-C.
It will not suit:
- for the RIVER 3, RIVER 3 UPS and RIVER 2 stations — they have no connector for it;
- if every kilogram counts: the station with the EB600 weighs about 10.5 kg together;
- for devices that need over 600 W of continuous power.
Frequently asked questions about the EB600
Can an EB600 be added to a RIVER 3 Max?
Only instead of the EB300 that is already part of the set. The RIVER 3 Plus does not support two batteries at once, but after the replacement the capacity grows to 858 Wh.
How much does a RIVER 3 Plus with an EB600 weigh and how much space does it take?
About 10.5 kg together, of which 5.8 kg is the battery. The base is about 23 × 23 cm, the height of the stack about 30 cm (146 + 158 mm).
Can the EB600 be charged separately?
Yes, through its 140 W USB-C. A full cycle from zero through this input will, by our calculation, take at least 4–4.5 hours.
Will the EB600 fit a RIVER 2 Max or RIVER 2 Pro?
No. EcoFlow makes this battery only for the RIVER 3 Plus and RIVER 3 Plus Wireless; RIVER 2 stations have no expansion connector.
Does the battery increase the power of the outlets?
No, the output remains 600 W. The battery extends run time but does not let you switch on more powerful devices.
What does the light strip on the battery show?
It shows the charge: the number of lit segments is proportional to the remaining energy. During charging part of the strip flashes, and flashing of the whole strip signals an error.
Summary
The EB600 turns a compact RIVER 3 Plus into an 858 Wh system that gives a day of basic backup for communication and light. If you have decided to buy an EcoFlow EB600, add it to your cart above. If you have doubts about your station model, contact us through the contacts.
