Description
The DELTA Pro 3 Smart Extra Battery is a 4096 Wh LiFePO4 module with no outlets of its own that increases the energy reserve of a station you already have. Its main pair is the EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3: two such batteries connect to it. EcoFlow’s official compatibility table adds the DELTA 3, DELTA 3 Plus and DELTA 3 1500, and according to the station’s page the module also fits the DELTA 3 Max Plus. Those who buy an EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3 Smart Extra Battery for a DELTA Pro 3 get twice the reserve: 8192 Wh with one battery.
The idea is simple: instead of a second station with an inverter, a screen and outlets, you buy only capacity. The output power, the set of ports and the control stay with the station, and the battery quietly gives it energy when it needs it.

What a 4 kWh expansion battery gives
Another full DELTA Pro 3 capacity
The module’s rating is the same as the station’s own — 4096 Wh at 51.2 V. That is, one battery doubles the reserve and two triple it: 12,288 Wh, which EcoFlow rounds to 12 kWh. For a private house this is the difference between an outage you have to sit out and several days of almost normal life.
4000 cycles to 80% capacity
The manual states that after 4000 charge and discharge cycles at 25 °C the battery keeps over 80% of its capacity. Even if you run it fully every day, the lifespan lasts for more than ten years.
Four kilowatt-hours in one case
Among EcoFlow’s expansion batteries for the DELTA 3 and DELTA Pro 3 series this one has the largest capacity. For comparison, the DELTA 3 Smart Extra Battery has 1024 Wh, so one such module replaces four smaller ones in terms of reserve.

Seven kinds of protection
The management system monitors overvoltage, overload, overheating, short circuit, excess current, low voltage and low temperature.
Compatibility
The list is compiled from three manufacturer sources: the general battery compatibility table, the FAQ section on the DELTA Pro 3 page and the specifications of the stations themselves. The capacity in the right column is the sum of the ratings of the station and the battery.
| Station | Own capacity | With battery |
|---|---|---|
| DELTA Pro 3, 1 battery | 4096 Wh | 8192 Wh |
| DELTA Pro 3, 2 batteries | 4096 Wh | 12,288 Wh |
| DELTA 3, DELTA 3 Plus | 1024 Wh | 5120 Wh |
| DELTA 3 1500 | 1536 Wh | 5632 Wh |
| DELTA 3 Max Plus | 2048 Wh | 6144 Wh |
DELTA 3, DELTA 3 Plus and DELTA 3 1500 each have one expansion battery port, so only one such module connects to them. EcoFlow describes these pairings as expansion to 5 and 5.5 kWh respectively. The DELTA 3 Max Plus page also mentions a variant with two modules up to 10 kWh, but only through the Extra Battery Expansion Adapter, which EcoFlow has only announced so far.
It is not compatible with the first DELTA Pro: in the DELTA Pro 3 FAQ the manufacturer directly writes that a Pro 3 battery does not connect to it. It works the other way round: old DELTA Pro batteries fit the DELTA Pro 3 after a firmware update, and can be mixed with this module, although the charge level between them will equalise unevenly.
The box contains the battery itself, a 0.85 m EcoFlow Extra Battery Flat Link Cable, a quick start guide, a safety instruction and a warranty card.
How much longer the station will run
Part of the energy is taken by conversion in the inverter, so at the 230 V outlets about 85% of the 4096 Wh arrives, about 3480 Wh. That is the run-time gain. The figures below are a calculation for orientation: compressors, cold in the room and specific equipment models change the result.
- a fridge consuming 1–1.5 kWh a day: plus 2.3–3.5 days;
- gas heating — a boiler and circulation pump that together take 100–150 W: plus 23–35 hours;
- a home workstation — laptop, screen, internet — at 120 W: almost 29 hours, that is three to four working days of eight hours;
- a 1 kW oil heater: about 3.5 hours.
With DELTA 3 the effect is even more noticeable. Its own 1024 Wh lasts a few hours for a fridge, router and lighting (150–200 W), and with this module the same set runs for about 22–29 hours. The power limit is set by the station: for DELTA 3 it is 1800 W, so the battery will not open up heavy heating appliances.

How to connect and use it
The supplied cable connects the proprietary port on the end of the battery to the Extra Battery port on the station. When a battery icon appears on the DELTA Pro 3 screen, the module is ready to work. To remove the battery from the system, per the manual it is enough to disconnect the cable between it and the station.
The manual advises not placing batteries on the station. If there is no way around it because of lack of space, turn the station and modules with their long side to the wall so the structure does not tip over. At 33 kg and 694 mm long the battery is easier to carry with two people.

On the case there is a power button and LED indicators. The main indicator glows a smooth white when all is well and flashes during a firmware update. The status strip shows the charge level by the number of segments: flashing of part of the strip means charging, flashing of the whole strip means an error.
The battery has no mains input of its own. It charges through the DELTA Pro 3 from any source connected to the station, or directly from an EcoFlow Smart Generator (Dual Fuel): for this a DELTA Pro to Smart Generator Adapter is inserted into its port and connected to the generator’s XT150 port. Besides the capacity reserve, the module also picks up the load when the station’s own battery runs down.
A battery or a more powerful station
The battery adds kilowatt-hours but not watts. DELTA Pro 3 even with two modules delivers the same 4000 W, and DELTA 3 1800 W. If the problem is that the station cannot run a boiler, pump and kitchen at the same time, a larger energy reserve will not solve it.
For a DELTA 3 owner the honest comparison is this: the module gives up to 5 kWh, but at a limit of 1800 W. If heavy appliances are needed as much as reserve, it is smarter to look at the DELTA Pro 3 itself. And if you only lack a little energy for the night, the lighter 1 kWh DELTA 3 Smart Extra Battery is enough.
Who it suits and who it does not
It suits you if:
- you have a DELTA Pro 3 and the reserve of one station is not enough for a long outage;
- you store energy from solar panels and want to store more during the day;
- you have a DELTA 3, DELTA 3 1500 or DELTA 3 Max Plus and need a large reserve without replacing the station;
- you already have DELTA Pro batteries in your system and are moving to a DELTA Pro 3.
It will not fit or is unnecessary if:
- you have a first-generation DELTA Pro, DELTA 3 Max or DELTA 3 Classic — these stations do not support it;
- you lack the station’s power, not its run time;
- the module will have to be moved often: 33 kg is not a hiking format;
- another expansion battery is already connected to the DELTA 3, because it has one port.
FAQ
Does it work with the previous-generation DELTA Pro?
No. EcoFlow directly states that the DELTA Pro 3 Smart Extra Battery does not work with the old DELTA Pro. Compatibility exists only the other way round: DELTA Pro batteries connect to DELTA Pro 3.
Can this module and a DELTA Pro battery be combined on one DELTA Pro 3?
Yes, the manufacturer allows it after a firmware update of all devices. But their capacities differ (4096 and 3600 Wh), so the charge percentage in the modules will diverge.
Can the battery be charged without a station?
Yes, but only from an EcoFlow Smart Generator (Dual Fuel) through the DELTA Pro to Smart Generator Adapter. It cannot be connected directly to a socket or solar panels; everything else goes through the station.
How do I find the charge if there is no screen?
By the strip of LED indicators on the case: the more segments are lit, the higher the charge. If part of the strip flashes, the battery is charging.
Will the module survive winter in an unheated garage?
It can, if it is not colder than minus 10 °C there: that is the lower limit for discharge and storage. The battery charges only from 0 °C, and the optimal range is 20–30 °C. The case is not protected from moisture, so the place must be dry.
How should I store the module if it is not needed for a long time?
Once every three months charge it fully and then discharge it to about 60%. The manual does not advise leaving the battery without charging for longer than half a year.
Summary
This module is a way to grow a DELTA Pro 3 system to 8 or 12 kWh, and a DELTA 3, DELTA 3 1500 or DELTA 3 Max Plus to 5–6 kWh, without changing the station.
