An estimate: 85% of the station capacity (inverter efficiency) divided by the total power of the appliances; charge is shown after a 4-hour blackout. Real figures depend on how the appliances are used.

EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus is a 2048 Wh station for a home, country house or workshop where not only capacity but also power reserve matters: 3000 W at the outlets and 6000 W for starting motors. If you have decided to buy an EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus, keep in mind its main difference from the regular DELTA 3 Max: a battery can be added to it later, and the outlets can be managed by priority.

Outage schedules in Ukraine have made such stations part of everyday life. Between outages you have to manage to charge, and during an outage to last with a boiler, fridge and kitchen. From a socket DELTA 3 Max Plus reaches 80% in about 47 minutes.

The model is designed for those who plan to grow gradually: one station today, later an extra battery and 1000 W of solar panels.

Why DELTA 3 Max Plus

3000 W — a quarter more than DELTA 2 Max

According to EcoFlow, the station delivers 25% more power than DELTA 2 Max: 3000 W continuous and 6000 W briefly. This lets you run a kettle, microwave and fridge together, and start a compressor or electric motor without overload. For heaters, hair dryers and other heating equipment up to 3900 W there is X-Boost: the output voltage is lowered, the appliance works more slowly, but the station does not shut down from overload.

Outlet priority and charge reserve

The outlets on the front panel are split into two groups with AC1 and AC2 buttons. The Smart Output Priority function lets you choose through the app what stays powered, even when you are not at home.

Smart Power Reserve works without your involvement: you set a charge threshold in percent, and after it the station switches off less important load. The lights go out, and the fridge keeps running. DELTA 3 Max has no such function.

1000 W from the sun

The solar input is twice as powerful as in DELTA 3 Max: up to 1000 W through two XT60 connectors. According to EcoFlow, the station goes from 0 to 80% in about 96 minutes at full panel output. For a country house or private house with room for panels this is a noticeable saving of fuel and mains energy.

From 2 to 10 kWh

On the rear panel there is a port for an extra battery. DELTA 3 Max Plus, DELTA 2 Max, DELTA 3 and DELTA Pro 3 batteries are compatible. The upper limit of 10 kWh is possible only with two DELTA Pro 3 batteries and a separate expansion adapter, more about this below.

Ports for a laptop and 12 V equipment

The main USB-C delivers 140 W, so a powerful laptop charges at full speed. Two more USB-C ports share 45 W between them, and there is a USB-A of 18 W. The car socket and the 30 A Anderson connector together give up to 378 W — three times more than in DELTA 3 Max.

Through the Anderson it is convenient to power a car fridge or van equipment directly, without conversion to 230 V and back. EcoFlow states a 95% efficiency for this output.

10 ms and a signal for the computer

When the mains disappears, the station switches to the battery in under 10 ms. The 140 W USB-C port supports HID, so a computer or NAS network storage receives power data from the station the same way as from a UPS. The system can be set to shut down properly before the charge runs out.

What equipment will run from DELTA 3 Max Plus

The usable reserve at the 230 V outlets is about 85% of the capacity, that is about 1740 Wh. Run time is calculated simply: divide the reserve in watt-hours by the total power of the equipment switched on. The hours given are a guide, not a promise: only your appliances and your conditions will show the exact result.

A long outage in a house

A gas boiler with a pump, a fridge, a router and a few LED lamps together consume 200–250 W on average. Without expansion the charge lasts for roughly 7–8 hours, with one 2048 Wh extra battery roughly twice as long.

If you set a charge reserve, for example at 30%, the lighting switches off by itself and the remaining energy goes to the boiler and fridge. This way the station lasts until the next window even if the schedule has shifted.

Kitchen and laundry

With 3000 W you do not have to switch one thing off to switch another on. In EcoFlow’s internal tests a microwave, kettle, fridge and blender work at the same time. For your own kitchen simply add up the power of the appliances you switch on together: the sum must fit within 3000 W.

A washing machine heats water at about 2 kW and consumes a few hundred watts for the rest of the cycle, so washing runs without restrictions. A 2.4–2.5 kW tumble dryer also fits within the rating, but will take most of the charge in an hour of running.

Workshop and garage

A 1400 W circular saw, drill, sander or a 2200 W electric lawn mower run directly from the station, and the 6000 W peak covers the current surge when the motor starts. Because of the pauses between cuts, less energy is used over a day than the rated watts suggest.

Country house, van, camping

Outdoors the station powers an electric grill, kettle and lighting, and a car fridge is better connected to the Anderson output. A submersible pump at a country house should be started from the station once in advance to make sure the starting current fits within 6000 W.

Where the limit is

A 2 kW electric boiler will work, but without extra batteries will drain the station in about 50–55 minutes; the same goes for a heater of that power. An electric cooker with an oven, several powerful heaters at once or equipment above 3900 W is beyond this model even with X-Boost.

How it works

From a socket the station charges at up to 2300 W, no external power brick is needed. A full charge takes about 68 minutes. Storm Guard mode reacts to storm warnings and switches on charging from the mains by itself so the station meets the bad weather full. It needs to be activated once in the app.

From a generator DELTA 3 Max Plus accepts up to 2400 W and, according to EcoFlow, also reaches 80% in about 47 minutes. X-Fusion works here: when the station is connected to the mains or a generator, it delivers up to 3000 W to the equipment through its own inverter and is not limited by what the input line provides. DELTA 3 Max does not have this technology.

For the sun there are two XT60 inputs on the rear panel that together accept up to 1000 W. Together with charging from the car alternator, the sun gives 0–80% in about 51 minutes.

Up to 1000 W from the sun through two XT60 inputs

On the road there are two options. The ordinary 12/24 V car socket gives up to 8 A, which is slow topping up. The faster way is the 1000 W Alternator Charger Plus through the 4+8 port: from 0 to 80% in about 95 minutes. This device is sold separately, and on EcoFlow’s European site it is still marked as coming soon.

An extra battery connects to the port on the rear panel. For example, the DELTA 3 Max Plus Smart Extra Battery doubles the reserve to 4096 Wh. Setups with two batteries — 6 kWh with two DELTA 3 Max Plus Smart Extra Batteries or 10 kWh with two DELTA Pro 3 batteries — need an Extra Battery Expansion Adapter. EcoFlow still announces it as “coming soon”, so today you should count on one extra battery.

A setup with two batteries needs an expansion adapter

As an uninterruptible power source the station is permanently plugged into the mains, and a computer, router or boiler are connected to its outlets. When the power disappears, they keep working from the battery without any action on your part.

Through the EcoFlow app, which connects to the station over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, besides outlet priority and charge reserve you can set scheduled charging: for example, charge the station at night on a cheaper tariff if you have a two-zone meter and use the energy during the day. Some app functions, according to EcoFlow, will appear gradually.

DELTA 3 Max Plus, DELTA 3 Max, DELTA 2 Max or DELTA Pro 3

Most often the choice is between DELTA 3 Max Plus and the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max. Their capacity, AC charging and case dimensions are almost the same, and the difference is in power, ports and the option to expand.

If 2 kWh is definitely enough for you and powerful equipment does not run at the same time, DELTA 3 Max is 1.8 kg lighter and will handle the same basic work. Max Plus makes sense when you need a power reserve, sun above 500 W or at least one extra battery in the future.

EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max is the previous generation of the same capacity: 2400 W, sun up to 1000 W and expansion to 6 kWh with two batteries. It weighs 23 kg and switches to battery in up to 20 ms. DELTA 3 Max Plus with the same 2048 Wh gives 600 W more and uses a new type of cell.

EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3 is the next level: 4096 Wh, 4000 W, five outlets, sun up to 2600 W and expansion to 12 kWh. But it also weighs 51.5 kg, so it is already a stationary system for a house. If you need a station one person can carry and capacity that can be grown gradually, DELTA 3 Max Plus is the smarter start.

Who DELTA 3 Max Plus suits and who it does not

It suits you if:

  • a boiler, fridge and kitchen appliances together need up to 3000 W;
  • you plan to add a battery or 1000 W of solar panels over time;
  • you want the station to switch off secondary load by itself at low charge;
  • a computer or NAS needs to receive an outage signal via HID;
  • the station will travel in a van or to a country house where an Anderson output is needed.

It is worth considering another one if:

  • 2400 W is enough and expansion is not needed — DELTA 3 Max is simpler and lighter;
  • you plan to run a whole house on the battery together with a boiler and electric cooker — DELTA Pro 3 exists for that;
  • the station will often be carried by one person: 22.1 kg is noticeable;
  • you need 10 kWh right now: a second battery is possible only with an adapter that EcoFlow is only just announcing;
  • during outages you only need lights, a router and phone charging — a one-kilowatt-hour model is enough.

FAQ

How many extra batteries can be connected?

Directly one: the station has one expansion port. Two batteries and up to 10 kWh only through the Extra Battery Expansion Adapter, which EcoFlow has announced but has not yet released on the European market.

Will a battery from DELTA 2 Max fit?

Yes, the DELTA 2 Max Smart Extra Battery is on the compatibility list. DELTA 3 Max Plus, DELTA 3 and DELTA Pro 3 batteries also fit, so the final capacity depends on which one you choose.

What is X-Fusion?

It is a mode in which the station, connected to the mains or a generator, powers the equipment through its inverter of up to 3000 W. That is, the output power is not limited by the capabilities of the input line.

How does Smart Power Reserve work?

You set a charge threshold in the app, and when the battery drops to it, the station switches off secondary outputs. Important load, such as a fridge, stays on.

Can it be charged from the sun and a car at the same time?

Yes, the sun up to 1000 W and the Alternator Charger Plus up to 1000 W work together and give 0–80% in about 51 minutes. The Alternator Charger Plus itself is sold separately and on the European site is still listed as a novelty coming soon.

How long will the battery last?

EcoFlow estimates the service life at about 10 years with correct use. This is the result of the manufacturer’s internal modelling, not a guarantee; the number of cycles is not given on the European model page.

Can the station be kept in a bedroom?

Yes, at a load of up to 600 W the noise does not exceed 25 dB at 0.5 m. In addition, the station is certified to electromagnetic compatibility class B, which means it does not interfere with a TV and Wi-Fi.
