EcoFlow RIVER power stations: who they are for

EcoFlow RIVER is a compact series of power stations with a capacity from 245 to 768 Wh and power from 300 to 800 W. They keep the internet, a laptop, lighting and small devices running during blackouts, and at 3.5 kg and up they easily go to a country house, a car or a campsite. All models in the category have a LiFePO4 battery rated for 3000 cycles to 80% capacity.

How to choose a RIVER station

• Internet and phones. RIVER 3 or RIVER 2 is enough for a router and charging gadgets. A 10 W Wi-Fi router runs from a 245 Wh station for roughly 20 hours.
• Computer or NAS. RIVER 3 UPS and RIVER 3 Plus switch to battery in under 10 ms, so the equipment does not reboot. RIVER 3 Plus has a USB-B port for connecting to a PC or NAS.
• More devices at once. RIVER 3 Plus delivers 600 W and three outlets, and with X-Boost it starts devices up to 1200 W.
• A reserve for the evening and night. RIVER 2 Max (512 Wh) runs a 60 W laptop for roughly 7 hours, RIVER 2 Pro (768 Wh) for about 11 hours.
• Wireless charging. RIVER 3 Plus Wireless has a removable 5000 mAh RAPID power bank in the lid with Qi2 wireless charging up to 15 W.

Capacity expansion and solar charging

RIVER 3 Plus and RIVER 3 Plus Wireless can be extended with an extra battery EB300 with 286 Wh or EB600 with 572 Wh — up to 858 Wh in total. A station that already comes with a battery is in the bundles section. RIVER 3 and RIVER 3 UPS cannot be expanded.

All RIVER stations charge from EcoFlow solar panels: RIVER 2, RIVER 3 and RIVER 3 UPS accept up to 110 W, RIVER 2 Max, RIVER 2 Pro and RIVER 3 Plus up to 220 W. From a socket, RIVER 3 and RIVER 3 Plus charge from zero to 100% in about 60 minutes.

Which RIVER station should I choose for a router and a laptop?

If you only need to keep a router running and charge phones, RIVER 3 or RIVER 2 is enough. For a laptop for several hours and several devices at once, RIVER 3 Plus or RIVER 2 Max is better. Add up the power of the devices and the hours you need, then add a reserve.

Is RIVER suitable as a UPS for a computer?

Yes, if you pick a model with fast switching. According to the product pages, RIVER 3 UPS and RIVER 3 Plus switch to battery in under 10 ms, RIVER 3 in under 20 ms and RIVER 2 in under 30 ms. For a desktop PC and NAS, choose RIVER 3 UPS or RIVER 3 Plus.

Can the RIVER capacity be increased?

Yes, but only on RIVER 3 Plus and RIVER 3 Plus Wireless. One EB300 or EB600 battery connects to them, and the total capacity grows to 572 or 858 Wh. RIVER 3 and RIVER 3 UPS cannot be expanded, so choose a model with the reserve you need right away.
